NEW YORK — Kraft Heinz CEO Miguel Patricio said the company will intensify its focus on value and affordability for consumers as persistent inflation pressures household budgets across the United States.
The packaged food giant projects this approach will expand market share in core segments like condiments, sauces and frozen meals by two percent over the next 12 months. Patricio said the company is prioritizing aggressive pricing, promotional activities and larger pack sizes to support cash-strapped shoppers seeking essential food items.
Kraft Heinz aims to maintain gross margins near 35 percent through efficiency gains in its supply chain, strategic sourcing of raw materials and optimized manufacturing processes. The strategy represents a shift from earlier industry trends emphasizing premiumization and higher-priced specialty products, which saw reduced consumer uptake in recent quarters.
The move positions Kraft Heinz directly against competitors like Campbell Soup and General Mills, who have also adjusted pricing strategies to retain customer loyalty during economic headwinds. Consumer staple companies face slowing volume growth as real wages stagnate and discretionary spending tightens for many U.S. families.
Analysts at JPMorgan recently reiterated an "Overweight" rating on Kraft Heinz, citing the company's strong brand portfolio and operational agility in a competitive landscape. They project KHC could see earnings per share growth of five percent in 2026, driven by effective execution of its market share growth strategy and cost management initiatives.
The stock currently trades at a forward earnings multiple of 14 times, below its five-year average of 16 times, suggesting potential for re-rating if the value strategy successfully expands its customer base. This valuation gap offers an attractive entry point for investors seeking defensive plays.
Kraft Heinz expects the strategy to yield a one percent increase in organic net sales for fiscal year 2026, driven by increased unit volume despite potential revenue per unit compression. The company also plans to introduce new value-oriented product lines targeting entry-level price points.
