BLAINE, Minn. — Michael Kim delivered a historic round Friday at the 3M Open, carding a 12-under 59 at TPC Twin Cities — the 16th sub-60 score ever recorded on the PGA Tour — to seize the tournament lead.
Kim opened with two pars before catching fire on the front nine. He rattled off five consecutive birdies from the third through the seventh hole, added another on nine and turned in 29 strokes. He kept the heat on coming home, making four straight birdies from 15 through 18 to close it out.
A 59 puts Kim in elite company, and at 33 years old, the timing matters. A round like this can rewrite a player's market value overnight — new endorsement conversations open up, appearance fees jump and tournament sponsors take notice. This is a career moment.
