Israeli forces detained more than 70 people across the occupied West Bank overnight Friday into Saturday, following deadly clashes in a northern Palestinian village that killed two Israeli soldiers and four Palestinians.
The Israeli military said its troops searched more than 300 locations during the operation. Those arrested were described as terror suspects in an official military statement.
Clashes between Israeli forces and Palestinians have grown more frequent in the West Bank over the past 18 months, with a persistent cycle of raids and armed resistance destabilizing the territory.
The operations reinforce Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's security posture, a core promise to his conservative political base. President Trump has maintained close diplomatic ties with the Israeli government, supporting its security objectives in the region.
The Palestinian Authority, already struggling with internal legitimacy, sees its control further eroded by large-scale military incursions. Its inability to protect its population weakens its standing among Palestinians and in the international community.
