XDC Network's XDC AI now enables AI agents to pay for services directly, addressing a gap in the emerging agentic economy. The solution pairs the open x402 standard with gasless USDC settlement, allowing autonomous agents to complete transactions per request without human sign-off or managed accounts.
The gasless settlement mechanism removes the need for agents to hold native gas tokens, reducing operational overhead for automated systems. Payments settle in USDC, bypassing volatility in network-native tokens and providing the price predictability required for micro-transactions.
The x402 standard functions as an open protocol for agent-to-agent payment requests, defining structured interactions through which agents can solicit and compensate for services across a range of AI applications.
XDC demonstrated the marketplace at an event in New York on July 31. XDC co-founder Atul Khekade said the demonstration drew more than 100 industry representatives.
The infrastructure lets AI service providers monetize agent interactions and automate revenue streams, while giving developers a programmatic method for embedding financial transactions into agent protocols.
Adoption of the x402 standard remains an open question, as does the security of autonomous agent wallets—robust protection against exploits will be critical as agents accumulate more financial agency. Interoperability across varied AI models and blockchain environments presents a further technical challenge.
XDC Network's immediate focus is expanding XDC AI integrations with additional agent frameworks and broadening x402 deployment.
